Working On A Paid Holiday

To qualify for holiday pay, you must not be on a leave of absence and have worked the last scheduled workday before and the next scheduled workday after the holiday, unless you have made arrangements in advance with your manager to be excused.

  • Hourly team members who work on a holiday will be paid for the holiday as well as for the time actually worked.
  • Salaried team members (including both exempt and non-exempt store managers) are not eligible for holiday pay.

If A Paid Holiday Falls On A Weekend

When holidays fall on a weekend, the Company will determine which working day will be observed as the holiday.

Payroll for Retail Locations

  • FULL-TIME HOURLY TEAM MEMBERS: Full-time Team Members are paid 8 hours of holiday benefit for each of these holidays. If they work on the holiday, they are to be paid for the hours worked in addition to the holiday benefit hours.

    See the example below:

    • Day of holiday, full-time Team Member works 7 hours: Under the day of the holiday show 7 hours. Under VAC-HOL show 8 hours. Holiday is the default for stores using Work Brain.
    • Day of holiday, full-time Team Member is off: Under the day of the holiday, show no hours. Under VAC-HOL show 8 hours.
    • Full-time Team Members receive 8 hours holiday pay if they work an average of 32 hours per week.
  • PART-TIME HOURLY TEAM MEMBERS: Part-time Team Members are generally paid 4 hours of holiday benefit for a holiday (defaults on Work Brain). However, if the part-time Team Member works on the holiday for more than 4 hours, they are to be paid holiday benefit time equal to the amount of time they worked on the holiday (maximum of 8 hours), plus the regular hours worked that day.

    See the example below:

    • Day of holiday, part-time Team Member works 6 hours: Under the day of the holiday, show 6 hours. Under VAC-HOL show 6 hours (since Team Member worked 6 hours).
    • Remember, the minimum holiday benefit for part-time Team Members is 4 hours, the maximum is 8 hours.

Payroll for Non-Retail Locations

  • HOURLY TEAM MEMBER WHO WORKS ON THE DAY OF THE HOLIDAY: For the day of the holiday, show the number of regular working hours. Under HOLIDAY, show the appropriate hours for holiday pay.
    • Note: Holiday pay is based on the Team Member's regular base hourly rate of pay in effect at the time of the holiday and the number of regular hours that the Team Member would have worked that day.
  • HOURLY TEAM MEMBER DOES NOT WORK (OR UNIT IS CLOSED) ON THE DAY OF THE HOLIDAY: Enter nothing under the day of the holiday. Enter the number of holiday pay hours in which the Team Member is entitled to under HOLIDAY.
